High seas tug Hercules at 1/50 scale
During its early years of service, the Hercules was an ocean-going tug.
The Hercules was often used to tow sailing boats in the NW winds off the coast of San Francisco.
The Hercules was used to tow boats to various destinations on the west coast of the United States and Hawaii, and even helped transport of raw materials for the construction of the Panama Canal.
In 1986, it was elected a national monument. It is now moored at the Hyde Street wharf in San Francisco's National Historical Park.
A faithful reproduction of the original, the model is a static model that can be motorised and radio-controlled.
