Marquis de La Fayette's Frigate of Liberty

On March 21, 1780, the young Marquis de La Fayette boards on the Hermione to reach America and fight alongside the American Independents.  

 

In 1997, under the aegis of the Hermione-La Fayette Association, at Rochefort, the reconstruction of the Hermione is started. Shipwrights, carpenters, blacksmiths, sail makers, riggers, marine sculptors and hundreds of volunteers have since worked under the public eyes until revive this ship. In 2015, Hermione went back to sea to celebrate Franco-American friendship.
