Declared outlaws, the English Puritans embarked on the Mayflower on September 6, 1620, bound for America under the command of Captain Christopher Jones. The Mayflower was destroyed on its return to England in 1624. A replica, built three centuries later and displayed in the ports of New York, Miami and Washington, is currently anchored as a museum ship in the port of Plymouth, USA.
